Every twist and turn on Bhutan's narrow roads reveal breathtaking vistas of remote green mountainsides, sacred sites clinging to precarious cliffs, and idyllic villages where locals extend warm hospitality. DAY 1: Paro to Thimphu (Distance: 47km / 1.5 hour drive) Altitude: 2300m
Your friendly tour guide will be eagerly awaiting your arrival with your surname written on a plaque outside the exit doors at Paro International Airport. You will be driven to your hotel to unpack and enjoy a cup of tea then head out for the day. After a warm welcome, we'll embark on a scenic drive towards Thimphu, the capital city. Upon reaching Thimphu, we'll engage in a brief yet informative briefing session covering essential aspects such as traffic rules and regulations as per the Road Safety and Transport Authority, safety measures, and introductions to fellow co-bikers. In the evening, you'll have the opportunity to leisurely explore Thimphu City, soaking in its vibrant atmosphere and distinct charm. (L, D) Willows Hotel (3 star)
DAY 2: Thimphu to Phobjikha via Wangdue (Distance: 131km / 4 hours ride)
Begin your day with a visit to Kuensel Phodrang, where the grandest Buddha statue in Bhutan overlooks the picturesque Thimphu valley. After soaking in the beauty of this serene spot, embark on your journey to Phobjikha. Leaving Thimphu behind, the road winds its way through pine forests until reaching Dochula Pass (3,150m). From this vantage point, on clear winter days, you'll be treated to panoramic views of the Himalayan Mountain ranges, adorned by the Druk Wangyel Chortens, a collection of 108 stupas. Continue your ride towards Phobjikha, nestled in the mountains east of Wangdue Phodrang. This tranquil valley is home to the renowned Gangtey Monastery, established in the 17th century. Phobjikha's remote and serene ambiance is further enriched by its status as the winter habitat of black-necked cranes, which migrate from the Tibetan Plateau to enjoy the milder climate (B, L, D) Yue Loki Hotel (3 star)
Day 3: Phobjikha to Bumthang via Trongsa
(Distance: 159 km / 7 to 8 hrs ride)
After a hearty breakfast, pay a visit to the Black-Necked Crane Centre, where you'll learn about these majestic birds that migrate to Bhutan during winter. With its informative exhibits, the centre offers insight into the conservation efforts aimed at protecting these endangered cranes. Embark on the journey towards Bumthang, passing through Trongsa. The winding road leads you through the Pele La (pass) (3,390m) before reaching Trongsa. After Lunch ascend towards the Yotong La (pass) (3425m) before descending into the picturesque Bumthang Valley. En route, make a stop at the Yathra Centre, where hand-woven wool strips adorned with unique Bumthang patterns make for perfect souvenirs. Day 4: Bumthang - day exploration to Tang and Ura valley

Today's itinerary is a flexible open plan designed to immerse you in the beauty and spirituality of Bumthang. Start your day with a scenic ride to Tang Valley, a hidden gem of Bhutan known for its pristine beauty. Explore the rugged peaks where yaks roam freely and verdant slopes dotted with grazing sheep. Tang Valley is steeped in spiritual heritage, home to sacred shrines and revered saint Terton Pema Lingpa, who discovered many treasures prophesized by Guru Rimpoche. After a pincin lunch in Tang valley we will have another beautiful ride towards Ura valley, the tranquil surroundings road and a beautiful scenery will make your ride idyllic. Day 5: Morning Sightseeing in Bumthang and ride to Trongsa (Distance: 76 km / 3 hrs ride)
Begin your day with a visit to Jambay Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples constructed by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo in the 8th century. Renowned for its spiritual significance, Jambay Lhakhang stands as one of Bhutan's oldest and most sacred temples. Today the lunch will be served in a typical Bhutanese farmer’s house, where you can experience authentic Bhutanese food. After lunch enroute to Trongsa, make a brief stop at the Yathra Centre to explore hand-woven wool fabrics, ideal for selecting gifts for your loved ones. Day 6: Trongsa to Gelephu via Zhemgang
(Distance: 195 km / 7 to 8 hrs ride)
Embark on an early morning journey to Zhemgang via Gelephu, traversing through warmer regions of Bhutan. As you ride, soak in the scenic views of the black mountain range and pass by the Mangedchhu Hydro-Electric Project. Zhemgang welcomes you with its quaint charm, known for its exquisite cane and bamboo products. Continue your ride to Gelephu, a border town offering insights into cross-border trade with India. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll around Gelephu, immersing yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this bustling town. Day 7: Gelephu to Punakha via Tsirang
(Distance: 213 km / 7 hrs ride)
Enjoy a pleasant ride from Gelephu to Punakha, passing through plains adorned with wide roads and hot weather. Along the way, encounter local ethnic women selling organic produce and ride through picturesque village environments. As you approach Punakha, witness the massive construction site of the Puntshangchu I and II Hydro-Electric Project, a significant contributor to Bhutan's economy. Day 8: Punakha to Paro
(Distance: 115 km / 4 hrs ride)
Begin your day with a visit to Punakha Dzong, an architectural marvel and one of Bhutan's most iconic landmarks. Built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, Punakha Dzong is situated at the confluence of the Mo (Female) and Pho (Male) rivers, adding to its breathtaking setting. After soaking in the splendour of Punakha Dzong, embark on your journey towards Paro Valley. The road winds its way upward, surrounded by lush vegetation, offering glimpses of Bhutan's natural beauty. As you ascend to Dochu La Pass, take a moment to pause and enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee amidst the serene mountain landscape. Upon reaching Paro, settle in and prepare to explore this historic valley, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes. (B, L, D) Overnight in Khangkhu resort (3 star)
Day 9: Paro – day exploration to the Haa Valley
(Distance: 160 km/ 6 hours ride)
Today will ride to the pass known as Chele La between the Paro and Haa valleys at an altitude of 4000 metres. From this windswept location you will be able to experience stunning views over the Himalayas and the Haa valley. From the pass we will descend to the Haa valley. After lunch we will ride back to Paro along the old highway. The road will take us through remote villages and dense blue pine forests, alongside the gushing river. Day 10: Paro (Taktsang hike – 5-6-hour round trip)
The much-anticipated day of your visit to Taktsang Monastery, often referred to as the "Tiger's Nest," has arrived. After a restful night's sleep and a satisfying breakfast, you'll be all set for the adventure ahead. Wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear for the hike. Your journey begins as you make your way to the base of the Taktsang hike. This iconic monastery is perched dramatically on a cliff face. Reaching it involves a rewarding hike through picturesque, ancient forests. For those who prefer, there's an option to skip the temple and hike above Tigers Nest for a better view of the temple and valley. Taktsang Monastery is a significant sacred site in Bhutan, and its history is intertwined with Guru Rinpoche's legendary flight on a tigress to subdue local demons. The monastery, clinging to a rock cliff at over 800 meters above the valley floor, is a remarkable sight. The monastery was damaged by fire in 1998 but has been meticulously restored to its original condition and consecrated by the 4th King in 2005. After descending from the monastery, you'll enjoy lunch at the Taktsang cafeteria. This spot offers a stunning view of the monastery, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere for your meal. With the main highlight of the day completed, you'll have free time to explore the town and indulge in some last-minute shopping. Day 11: Paro (Departure)
